Children With Celiac Disease: Health-Related Quality of Life and Leisure Participation / Meyer Sonya in American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Vol. 70/6 (Novembre-décembre 2016)
[article]
Titre : Children With Celiac Disease: Health-Related Quality of Life and Leisure Participation Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Meyer Sonya ; Sara Rosenblum Année de publication : 2016 Article en page(s) : p. 7006220010p1-7006220010p8 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : celiac disease child health-related quality of life parent, food Résumé : OBJECTIVE. We compared health-related quality-of-life (HRQOL) perceptions of children with celiac disease (CD) with those of their parents to determine whether their leisure participation differs from that of children without CD and whether relationships exist between leisure participation and HRQOL.
METHOD. Children with CD and their parents completed a disease-specific HRQOL self-report questionnaire, the Celiac Disease DUX. These children and matched controls without CD completed the Children’s Leisure Assessment Scale (CLASS).
RESULTS. Parents perceived HRQOL significantly more negatively than did children. No significant group differences were found in leisure participation. However, specific CLASS food-related activities and HRQOL significantly correlated.
CONCLUSION. Hearing the child’s voice in addition to the parents’ is important in determining the HRQOL of children with a chronic condition. Findings contribute to understanding of CD in the context of participation and well-being and can lead to development of occupational performance–based assessments and interventions for children with CD.Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=47056

Exclu du prêtDevelopment, reliability, and validity of the My Child's Play (MCP) questionnaire / Eleanor SCHNEIDER in American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Vol. 68/3 (mai-juin 2014)
[article]
Titre : Development, reliability, and validity of the My Child's Play (MCP) questionnaire Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Eleanor SCHNEIDER ; Sara Rosenblum Année de publication : 2014 Article en page(s) : 277-285 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Enfant Parent Jeu Questionnaire Résumé : OBJECTIVE:
This article describes the development, reliability, and validity of My Child's Play (MCP), a parent questionnaire designed to evaluate the play of children ages 3-9 yr.
METHOD:
The first phase of the study determined the questionnaire's content and face validity. Subsequently, the internal reliability consistency and construct and concurrent validity were demonstrated using 334 completed questionnaires.
RESULTS:
The MCP showed good internal consistency (α = .86). The factor analysis revealed four distinct factors with acceptable levels of internal reliability (Cronbach's αs = .63-.81) and gender- and age-related differences in play characteristics; both findings attest to the tool's construct validity. Significant correlations (r = .33, p < .0001) with the Parent as a Teacher Inventory demonstrate the MCP's concurrent validity.
CONCLUSION:
The MCP demonstrated acceptable reliability and validity. It appears to be a promising standardized assessment tool for use in research and practice to promote understanding of a child's play.Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=33752

Exclu du prêtDrawing Proficiency Screening Questionnaire (DPSQ) / Lisa T. SHOOMAN in American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Vol. 68/6 (novembre/décembre 2014)
[article]
Titre : Drawing Proficiency Screening Questionnaire (DPSQ) : Development, Reliability, and Validity Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Lisa T. SHOOMAN ; Sara Rosenblum Année de publication : 2014 Article en page(s) : p. 710 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Enfant 2 5 ans Dessin Psychomotricité Test dépistage Ergothérapie Trouble vision Trouble écriture Résumé : OBJECTIVE. We describe the development and preliminary psychometric examination of the DPSQ for identifying drawing difficulties in preschool children.
METHOD. Teachers completed the DPSQ for 78 children ages 3–6 yr from 4 preschools. Children drew age-appropriate geometric forms of the Visual–Motor Integration (VMI) test on a digitizing tablet. We examined psychometric properties of the DPSQ and analyzed group membership.
RESULTS. Internal consistency was high (α = .82). Significant correlations were found between DPSQ and VMI scores indicating in-air time (r = .37, p = .002) and pressure on the writing tool (r = .32, p = .007). The typical and at-risk groups differed significantly in VMI and DPSQ scores, t(76) = 5.6, p = .001. The DPSQ mean score differentiated between 76% of children with and without visual–motor deficits.
CONCLUSION. The DPSQ is a useful tool for teachers and occupational therapy practitioners for indicating visual–motor deficits and potential handwriting problems.Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=34401

Titre : Handwriting Proficiency Screening Questionnaire for Children (HPSQ–C) : Development, Reliability, and Validity Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Sara Rosenblum ; Liat GAFNI-LACHTER Année de publication : 2015 Article en page(s) : p.22030 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Enfant Ecriture Dépistage Validité QuestionnaireHandwriting Mass screening Questionnaires Reproducibility of results Self report Résumé : OBJECTIVE. To adapt the Handwriting Proficiency Screening Questionnaire (HPSQ), previously designated for adults, into a children’s self-report version (the HPSQ for Children, or HPSQ–C) and to examine its reliability and validity.
METHOD. Participants included 230 children ages 7–14 yr from regular schools in Israel. The questionnaire’s content validity, internal consistency, and concurrent and construct validity were assessed.
RESULTS. The tool demonstrated good internal consistency (α = .77). We found a significant moderate correlation between final HPSQ–C scores and the HPSQ, r = .51, p < .001, establishing the HPSQ–C’s concurrent validity. Construct validity was also confirmed. Results demonstrated that the HPSQ–C significantly distinguished between children with and without handwriting deficiencies on the basis of measures of handwriting product (Hebrew Handwriting Evaluation) and handwriting process (Computerized Penmanship Evaluation Tool).
CONCLUSION. The HPSQ–C is suitable for identification of handwriting deficiency among school-aged children and is appropriate for varied academic and clinical uses.Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=35900

DisponibleThe relationship between sensory-processing patterns and occupational engagement among older persons / Batya Engel-Yeger in Canadian Journal of Occupational Therapy, 84(1) (février 2017)
[article]
But.
Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=48413
