Adolescents and adults coordination questionnaire / Miri Tal Saban in American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Vol. 66/4 (juillet-aout 2012)
[article]
Titre : Adolescents and adults coordination questionnaire : development and psychometric properties Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Miri Tal Saban ; Asher ORNOY ; Shula Parush ; Itamar Grotto Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : p. 406-414 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Questionnaire Trouble motricité Trouble développement Résumé : OBJECTIVE. This article describes the development of a brief, ecologically valid, self-report questionnaire, the Adolescents and Adults Coordination Questionnaire (AAC–Q), used to identify developmental coordination disorder (DCD) in adolescents and adults.
METHOD. The AAC–Q was completed by 28 adolescents and adults with suspected DCD ages 16–35 yr (mean [M] age = 21.18 yr) and 28 peers without DCD (M age = 27.64 yr). Cutoff scores for suspected DCD were established using data from a sample of 2,379 participants ages 19–25 yr (M age = 20.68 yr).
RESULTS. Reliability of the AAC–Q was determined using Cronbach’s α (α = .88) and test–retest reliability (r = .94, p < .001). Independent-sample t tests to assess construct validity revealed significant differences between participants with and without DCD, t(27) = 9.37, p < .001.
CONCLUSION. The AAC–Q is a standardized, reliable, and valid tool with potential for both research and clinical use.

Exclu du prêtEffectiveness of the Community–Academia Student Tutoring (CAST) program in enhancing students’ practice placement readiness / Miri Tal Saban in The British Journal of Occupational Therapy, Vol. 85 Issue 4 (Avril 2019)
[article]
Titre : Effectiveness of the Community–Academia Student Tutoring (CAST) program in enhancing students’ practice placement readiness Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Miri Tal Saban ; Naomi Weintraub Année de publication : 2019 Article en page(s) : p. 220-226 Note générale : doi.org/10.1177/0308022618800179 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Practice education practice placement students’ self-perception anxiety community service learning occupational therapy Résumé : Introduction
Occupational therapy programs include practice education, which is a vital aspect of professional practice preparation. We evaluated the effectiveness of the Community–Academia Student Tutoring program for enhancing occupational therapy students’ perceived readiness for their practice placement, thus reducing their feelings of anxiety.
Method
The study included 84 first-year undergraduate occupational therapy students aged 21–35 years, of whom 43 participated in the Community–Academia Student Tutoring group program and the rest comprised the control group. Participants completed the Student Self-Competency and Readiness for Fieldwork questionnaire prior to their first practice placement.
Findings
Anxiety was related to the Student Self-Competency and Readiness for Fieldwork’s components and total score. The Community–Academia Student Tutoring group scored significantly higher (p < .05) than the controls in the Evaluation and Communication with Patients components of the questionnaire, after controlling for anxiety level.
Implications
It appears that it is possible to enhance students’ readiness for their practice placement through a structured and intensive community-based mentoring program that is guided by faculty and includes activities of briefing and debriefing, such as the Community–Academia Student Tutoring program.Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=80407

Exclu du prêtSuccess in Adults With Probable Developmental Coordination Disorder Using Structural Equation Modeling. / Miri Tal Saban in American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Vol. 72/2 (March/April 2018)
[article]
Titre : Success in Adults With Probable Developmental Coordination Disorder Using Structural Equation Modeling. Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Miri Tal Saban, Auteur ; Asher ORNOY, Auteur ; Shula Parush, Auteur Année de publication : 2018 Article en page(s) : pp.1-8 Langues : Américain (ame) Mots-clés : Troubles des habiletés motrices Résultat thérapeutique Émotions fonction exécutive activité de la vie quotidienne Résumé : OBJECTIVE. The aim of this study was to conduct a broad in-depth examination of the relationship between developmental coordination disorder (DCD) and use of executive strategies, daily life activities, emotional state, and internal factors attributed to success. METHOD. We used a large randomized cohort of young adults. Structural equation modeling was performed to test both the direct effects and the mediated effects of the independent variable (probable DCD) on dependent variables (executive functions, academic and nonacademic activities, emotional state, and attribution to success). RESULTS. Probable DCD had a direct and significant effect on all variables. Motor coordination impairments directly affected daily function in nonacademic and academic abilities and resulted in decreased use of executive strategies. Likewise, all the indirect effects hypothesized in the model were found to be significant. CONCLUSION. The model revealed the direct and indirect influences of probable DCD on a range of functions, with far-reaching clinical implications. Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=60755

[article]
Titre : Young adults with developmental coordination disorder : a longitudinal study Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Miri Tal Saban ; Asher ORNOY ; Shula Parush Année de publication : 2014 Article en page(s) : 307-316 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Activités vie quotidienne Trouble motricité Jeune adulte Résumé : We conducted a longitudinal study to assess the continuing influence of developmental coordination disorder (DCD) on quality of life and participation. Ninety-six participants (25 in the DCD group, 30 in the borderline group, and 41 in the control group) ages 22-29 yr who had been screened for DCD 3-4 yr previously completed the Participation in Every Day Activities of Life, the Life-Satisfaction Questionnaire, and the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF) instrument. Multivariate analysis of variance revealed a significant between-groups difference, F(7, 95) = 2.89, p = .001, η = 0.173, and post hoc analyses revealed that participants in the DCD and borderline groups scored lower overall on participation, quality of life, and life satisfaction. Linear regression found the Psychological Health domain of the WHOQOL-BREF to be a significant predictor of life satisfaction (B = 0.533; p = .001).
