Réflexivité (philosophie)Mots-clés : Communication Compétence Evaluation Reflexivité Résumé : "The social work degree has now been introduced in England and it is timely to reflect on and evaluate key changes made by many universities in this process. This paper reflects on the beginning of such an evaluation, presenting a case study of assessment changes made in relation to communication skills teaching in a post-1992 university. This will act as a vehicle to explore some of the inherent complexities involved. Assessment methods implemented on social work courses should be scrutinized in relation to their validity, reliability and feasibility. Drawing upon multi-professional literature, one such process of scrutiny is described, with the intention of contributing to current debates regarding communication skills within the wider arena of developing social work education. The case study presented outlines how one social work programme changed its method of assessing communication skills for social work students. It explores the processes involved in moving from an essay assignment to the use of video interviews, supplemented by a written reflective self-evaluation undertaken in relation to the interview process. The views of students are outlined via their responses to a questionnaire and the paper highlights key themes identified by a student focus group." Enfants:Enfants -- Protection, assistance, etc.Mots-clés : Protection de l'enfance Angleterre Résumé : "This paper outlines some of the limitations of the annual data reports on child protection registrations provided in England and Wales and reports the findings of a study into patterns of variation on child protection registers. Previous studies of variations on child protection registers have usually examined variations between particular categories of registration, or focused upon the aggregated numbers of children registered in local areas. Unlike the limited official data, this study examined the actual periods of time that children remained registered. It found that there were significant variations by gender, age and local authority, in the periods of time registered. The paper concludes by raising questions about the range and nature of information that might usefully be collected about children, the merits of integrating data-sets, and the uses to which such data might be put." Délinquance juvénile # PrisonsMots-clés : Placement Adolescent Délinquance juvénile Prison Violence Résumé : "The purpose of this study was to draw a picture of the violence and abuse experienced by youngsters in juvenile correctional facilities in Israel. Residents of three types of correctional facilities (closed, diagnostic and hostels) for girls and boys indicated whether or not they had personal experiences of eight types of victimization by peers and four types of victimization by staff. The findings showed that all the investigated types of violence and abuse were present in all three types of correctional facilities, though ‘low-level’ acts of violence were more prevalent than ‘severe’ violence. At the same time, the findings also pointed to a different picture of violence and abuse in each type of facility and for each gender. The findings highlighted the problem of violence and abuse by peers and staff in correctional facilities for juveniles. At the same time, the differential pictures obtained suggested that intervention programmes must have both a general component and a component tailored to the facilities in which they are carried out." Enfants:Enfants -- Protection, assistance, etc.Mots-clés : Recherche Protection de l'enfance Analyse Résumé : "This paper introduces the Delphi research method and analyses its usefulness in multi-agency research. In particular, the authors examine how it was used in a project aimed at making the material generated by the Victoria Climbié Inquiry accessible to child welfare/protection professionals through organizing the oral evidence in such a way that it can become a web-based data corpus. The thematic analysis of research data-sets usually only reflects the theoretical and analytical ideas of the researchers; however, our research demonstrates that using the Delphi method incorporates thematic ideas both from researchers and from active professionals, thereby pooling expertise. Thus we argue that the Delphi method represents a valuable tool in multidisciplinary child welfare research as it embeds a breadth of expertise throughout the research process." MarginalitéMots-clés : Adulte Violence Marginalité Famille Résumé : "Elder abuse is recognized as a major problem, with profound effects on the health and quality of life of older persons. In our aging population, elder abuse represents an escalating clinical issue for social workers and health care professionals who provide care to older people. A major gap in our examination of elder abuse is the potential contribution and application of knowledge developed within research derived from other forms of family violence. This paper explores the interconnections among various forms of violence across the lifespan, and the experiences voiced by marginalized elders and their care providers. We interviewed seventy-seven rarely consulted older adults and forty-three formal and informal care-givers of older adults in focus groups in Ontario and Alberta, Canada. Study findings revealed four major themes that describe interconnections among types of abuse: (i) intergenerational cycles of abuse; (ii) violence across the lifespan; (iii) exposure to multiple subtypes of elder abuse; and (iv) ongoing spouse abuse that shifted into elder abuse. The results from this study indicate that victims often ‘suffer in silence’ and cultural factors, ageism and gender are ubiquitous to elder abuse. Recommendations to reduce elder abuse include education, formal and informal supports and services." Permalink : http://cdocs.helha.be/pmblln/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=12810
