[article]
Titre : Using Serial Trichotomization With Common Cognitive Tests to Screen for Fitness to Drive. The aim of this study was to illustrate the use of serial trichotomization with five common tests of cognition to achieve greater precision in screening for fitness to drive. METHOD. We collected data (using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, Motor-Free Visual Perception Test, Clock-Drawing Test, Trail Making Test Part A and B [Trails B], and an on-road driving test) from 83 people referred for a driving evaluation. We identified cutpoints for 100% sensitivity and specificity for each test; the driving test was the gold standard. Using serial trichotomization, we classified drivers as either "Pass," "Fail," or "Indeterminate." RESULTS. Trails B had the best sensitivity and specificity (66.3% of participants correctly classified). After applying serial trichotomization, we correctly identified the driving test outcome for 78.3% of participants. CONCLUSION. A screening strategy using serial trichotomization of multiple test results may reduce uncertainty about fitness to drive. Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=49282

Exclu du prêtAnalysing and interpreting outcomes data to support evidence-based practice using the example of AusTOMs-OT / Carolyn Unsworth in The British Journal of Occupational Therapy, Vol.80 Issue 10 (October 2017)
[article]
Titre : Analysing and interpreting outcomes data to support evidence-based practice using the example of AusTOMs-OT Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Carolyn Unsworth Année de publication : 2017 Article en page(s) : p. 631-637 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : pratique factuelle évaluation de résultat (soins) évaluation des résultats des patients Résumé : Statement of context
Occupational therapists working with clients who have neurological impairments routinely collect outcomes data. However, data cannot inform practice unless it is routinely reviewed. The aim of this paper was to show how outcomes data collected on the Australian Therapy Outcome Measures – Occupational Therapy scale were analysed and interpreted. Although the example pertains to clients with neurological problems, the approach can be applied to all areas of practice.
Critical reflection on practice
When outcomes data are routinely analysed and findings reviewed, occupational therapists have an increased understanding of practice strengths and limitations.
Implications for practice
Incorporating analysis and interpretation of outcomes data for clients with neurological problems into practice contributes evidence to support therapy and ensures clinicians retain control of their data.Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=52711

Exclu du prêtCanadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) in Primary Care: A Profile of Practice. / Catherine A. Donnelly in American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Vol. 71/6 (2017)
[article]
Titre : Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) in Primary Care: A Profile of Practice. This study aimed to understand how the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) can be used as an outcome measure in primary care and to identify the occupational performance profiles in this setting. METHOD. First, the COPM was administered to all eligible clients at two sites. Second, a focus group with participating occupational therapists explored the feasibility of using the COPM in primary care. RESULTS. A total of 161 COPMs were initially administered. Self-care goals were identified most frequently (n = 248), followed by productivity (n = 229) and leisure (n = 179) goals (total goals = 656). Mean initial performance and satisfactions scores were 3.2 and 2.8, respectively. The average change (n = 22) scores were 2.1 and 2.6, respectively. CONCLUSION. The COPM is an invaluable tool to guide initial assessments and offer an occupation- focused lens. Given the lifespan approach and an emphasis on screening and assessment, the challenge was finding the opportunity for readministration. Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=56170
