Attitudes of mental health occupational therapists toward evidence-based practice / Danielle P. HITCH in Canadian Journal of Occupational Therapy, 83(1) (février 2016)
[article]
Titre : Attitudes of mental health occupational therapists toward evidence-based practice : Attitudes des ergothérapeutes travaillant en santé mentale face à la pratique fondée sur les faits scientifiques Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Danielle P. HITCH Année de publication : 2016 Article en page(s) : p. 27-32 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Ergothérapeute Santé mentale Attitude Pratique médicale Recherche Résumé :
Description. La pratique fondée sur les faits scientifiques est un élément important des soins de santé moderne et, dans les dernières années, elle est devenue une priorité en ergothérapie, dans le domaine de la santé mentale
But.
Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=42003

Titre : Factors associated with comfort level of occupational therapy practitioners in providing low vision services Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Sandra WINNER ; Hon K. Yuen ; Laura K. Vogtle ; Mary Warren Année de publication : 2014 Article en page(s) : p.96-101 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Compétence Ergothérapie Attitude Trouble vision Résumé : OBJECTIVE. We describe the perceived adequacy of educational preparation for and comfort level of occupational therapy practitioners in providing services to clients with low vision and identify factors associated with the practitioners’ comfort level.
METHOD. One hundred occupational therapists who were not specialists in low vision rehabilitation completed a survey.
RESULTS. Fifty-two percent of the respondents perceived that they had received adequate preparation in occupational therapy school to address low vision. Between 54% and 63% of respondents were comfortable performing visual screening and providing interventions for clients with low vision. Multivariable analyses indicated that having received adequate preparation in occupational therapy school, having a partnership with an eye-care professional, and having provided services to a larger percentage of clients with low vision were significantly associated with perceived comfort in providing services to this population.
CONCLUSION. Findings provide an initial direction to improve low vision content in occupational therapy education curricula.Note de contenu : attitude du personnel de santé

Exclu du prêtAn evidence-based information booklet helps reduce fear-avoidance beliefs after first-time discectomy for disc prolapse / Delphine Claus in Annals of physical and rehabilitation medicine, Vol. 60, n° 2 (April 2017)
[article]
Titre : An evidence-based information booklet helps reduce fear-avoidance beliefs after first-time discectomy for disc prolapse Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Delphine Claus, Auteur ; Jean Chazal, Auteur ; Emmanuel Coudeyre, Auteur Année de publication : 2017 Article en page(s) : p. 68-73 Langues : Anglais (eng) Français (fre) Mots-clés : Lombalgie Attitude Peur Chirurgie orthopédique Brochure Disque intervertébral Booklet,Self-care,Fear-avoidance beliefs,Low back pain,Discectomy Résumé : Objective: We aimed to assess the impact of a booklet integrating the biopsychosocial model of chronic pain management on reducing disability among patients undergoing lumbar discetomy.
Methods: In a prospective, controlled, time-series study with an alternate-month design, we enrolled 129 patients from a tertiary care university hospital after they underwent uncomplicated lumbar discectomy for the first time. The intervention group received the biopsychosocial evidence-based booklet and the control group a biomedical-based booklet; the booklets differed only in information content. Patients were blinded to treatment group. The main outcome was disability at 2 months (measured by the Quebec back-pain disability scale [QBPDS]). Secondary outcomes were fear and avoidance beliefs measured by the Fear-Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire (FABQ). All data were collected by self-reporting questionnaires.
Results: At 2 months, disability did not differ between the 2 groups (QBPDS score 32.4+22.8 vs 36.1+18.7, P =0.36). FABQ physical activity score was lower with the evidenced-based booklet as compared with controls (8.0+7.14 vs 11.2+6.3, P =0.008).
Conclusions: Providing an evidence-based booklet had no effect at 2 months after surgery on disability but reduced fear-avoidance beliefs about physical activity. This booklet could be an effective tool for health care professionals in helping with patient education.
