The Persian ABILHAND-Kids was administered to 50 parents of CP children.Among the 50 parents of CP children, 30 of them participated in a test–retest reliability phase. Fiftyparents of healthy children participated for discriminative validity. Results:The Rasch analysis indicated the unidimensionality, reliability, and global invariance of thePersian ABILHAND-Kids. The internal consistency reliability was high (Cronbach’s alpha¼0.96). Floor andceiling effects were insignificant (4%). The Intraclass Correlation Coefficients of test–retest reliability were0.96 and 0.70 for item difficulties and children’s measures, respectively. The standard error of measure-ment and smallest detectable change for CP measure were 11.21 and 31.07%, respectively. The discrim-inative validity of the Persian ABILHAND-Kids was demonstrated by statistically significant lowerABILHAND-Kids measures in CP children than in healthy children (p<0.001). Cross-cultural validitybetween the Persian and original version was established for 19 out of the 21 ABILHAND-Kids items.Interpretation:The Persian ABILHAND-Kids questionnaire is reliable and valid for assessing manual abilityin Persian speaking children with CP. Titre : The Housing Enabler instrument: Assessing threats to reliability and validity Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Lizette Norin ; Susanne Iwarsson ; Maria Haak ; Björn Slaug Année de publication : 2019 Article en page(s) : p. 48-59 Note générale : doi.org/10.1177/0308022618782329 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Reliability validity Housing Enabler instrument occupational therapy Résumé : Introduction
The Housing Enabler instrument, designed to measure housing accessibility, has not been used in samples with long-standing spinal cord injury. We aimed to investigate potential threats to the reliability and validity of the instrument when used among older adults with spinal cord injury.
Method
Cross-sectional data from the Swedish Aging with Spinal Cord Injury Study (N = 123, injury levels C1–L5) were utilised. The potential effect on the reliability and content validity of the House Enabler was qualitatively considered and reviewed in an iterative evaluation procedure. To analyse the potential effect on construct validity, simulations adjusting accessibility problem scores for housing adaptations and use of mobility devices were conducted.
Findings
Considerable threats to the reliability and content validity of the Housing Enabler were identified. The simulated analysis of construct validity showed a modest overall effect on the accessibility problem scores, although this was substantial in some individuals.
Conclusion
Data collection and analyses of housing accessibility with the Housing Enabler in samples characterised by high frequencies of housing adaptations and/or use of mobility devices (such as powered wheelchairs) require particular attention. Further studies are needed to propose optimisation of the instrument for use in such contexts, followed by psychometric testing to maintain reliability and validity.Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=80295

Independence in activities of daily living (ADL) is one of the most important aspects in planning treatment for people with Parkinson disease (PD). The Barthel Index (BI) and modified Rankin Scale (mRS) are commonly used in neurological diseases.
Objective
This study was conducted to confirm the validity and reliability of the BI and mRS in PD during ON and OFF medication phases.
Methods
We included 260 individuals with a diagnosis of idiopathic PD. The disability in ADL was measured by the BI, mRS, Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire-39 (PDQ-39), Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale-Activities of Daily Living (UPDRS-ADL), and Schwab and England ADL scale (SE). Test–retest, inter-rater reliability, and internal consistency were assessed by the intra-class correlation (ICC) and Cronbach α coefficients. Dimensionality was evaluated by factor analysis. Convergent validity was assessed by the SE, Berg Balance Scale (BBS), PDQ-39 and UPDRS-ADL.
Results
For the 260 participants (187 [71.9%] males; mean [SD] age 60.3 [12.3] years), both the BI and mRS achieved an acceptable level of test–retest and inter-rater reliability (ICC = 0.77 to 0.91) in ON and OFF medication phases. The Cronbach α for BI was 0.85 and 0.88, respectively. We found 1 and 2 factors for BI in ON and OFF phases, respectively. Investigation of convergent validity showed moderate to high correlation for the BI with the UPDRS-ADL, SE, PDQ-39 (ADL), BBS and mRS scores in ON and OFF phases (ρ = 0.51–0.74) and mRS with SE, UPDRS-ADL, PDQ-39 (ADL) and BBS scores (ρ = 0.48–0.82).
Conclusion
The BI and mRS showed acceptable validity and reliability to measure the degree of disability in patients with PD in daily activities in both ON and OFF medication phases.Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=91463

The purpose of this study was to translate and cross-culturally adapt the original Satisfaction with Daily Occupations tool to Arabic and assess the psychometric properties of the adapted tool.
Method A cross-cultural adaptation process was performed. Face, content, and criterion validity were examined, as well as internal consistency and test–retest reliability. The study included 147 healthy adults and 73 patients with cerebrovascular accident. They were purposefully selected from two countries (Kuwait and Jordan).
Results The adapted tool comprised six domains and a total of 14 items. Face and content validity were established through prolonged content analysis. Criterion validity was indicated by significant differences between the healthy and the cerebrovascular accident group in all areas of the Satisfaction Daily Occupations scale (p < 0.001). Satisfactory overall internal consistency (α = 0.77) and good test–retest reliability for the total satisfaction score for the healthy (inter-class correlation coefficient (ICC) = 0.984) and the cerebrovascular accident group (inter-class correlation coefficient (ICC) = 0.933) were found.
Conclusions The Satisfaction with Daily Occupations-Arabic version is a valid and reliable tool for use with Arabic-speaking occupational therapy clients. This study has several implications for occupational therapy education, practice, and research in the Arab world.En ligne : http://bjo.sagepub.com/content/78/4.toc Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=35946

Introduction This study examined the psychometric properties of the model of human occupation screening tool single observation form.
Method Clinical records were extracted pre- and post-treatment for 152 mental health service users. Data were model of human occupation screening tool single observation form scores and demographics. We investigated the form using Rasch analysis; we also present an analysis of change over time.
Results We identified four misfitting items and evidence of instability with respect to change over time. After anchoring to adjust for unstable estimates, it was possible to measure client change, and there were significant differences in form scores pre–post treatment indicating client improvement in ability.
Conclusion The study provides initial psychometric assessment of this version of the model of human occupation screening tool.
