Emotions # ÉtudiantsMots-clés : Emotion Etudiant Formation Thérapie Résumé : "This qualitative study of the feelings and concerns of social work student trainees regarding their end-of-year treatment termination paint a picture of great personal distress. As the students see it, the premature termination prevented them from reaching their treatment goals, did not suit the needs of the clients, and raised serious ethical questions. Their feelings included sadness and regret, frustration, and uncertainty about their professional capacities. They expressed concern that clients would not manage on their own, anxiety that the premature separation might harm the clients, and, above all, a great deal of guilt. Recommendations are offered for alleviating students’ distress and helping them to better cope with it." Permalink : http://cdocs.helha.be/pmblln/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=12268

Travailleurs sociaux:Travailleurs sociaux -- SupervisionMots-clés : Supervision Relation Résumé : "This study deals with the neglected subject of the feelings and concerns of field supervisors at the termination of the supervisory relationship. Analysis of the written responses of 55 field supervisors to three open ended questions reveals a mixture of co-existent feelings: satisfaction, fulfillment and pride, along with relief, sadness, and/or frustration. It shows that the supervisors’ most prevalent concern was with whether they were good supervisors, and that only half of them related to professional issues involved in the termination. About half reported being left with feelings of gratification; others wrote of being left with the sense that they had not accomplished what they would have liked to. Beyond the specific findings, the study’s main contribution is the light it sheds on supervisors’ perspectives on the experience of field supervision as a whole. Recommendations for practice and research are made." Permalink : http://cdocs.helha.be/pmblln/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=12826

Travailleurs sociauxRésumé : "Shared traumatic reality refers to those situations in which social workers help survivors cope with the very traumas that they themselves have been threatened by and/or exposed to, given the reality that they live and work in the same community as their clients. This paper is an initial attempt to present the knowledge gathered to date about providing treatment in shared traumatic realities. It reviews the various definitions and uses of the concept in the literature, the negative and positive impact derived from working in these situations, the unique characteristics that define and might help explain the resultant consequences of working in them, and practical and future research recommendations." GuerreRésumé : "Professionals working in shared traumatic realities?that is, in disasters in their home communities?are doubly exposed: as individuals and as professionals. This study examines the impact of the double exposure of sixty-three Israeli social workers who lived and worked in communities exposed to missile attacks during the Gaza War on their subsequent distress and personal growth. It does so by examining the contribution of five key features of professionals' double exposure: intrusive anxiety, lapses of empathy, immersion in professional role, role expansion, and changes in place and time of work. The findings show that intrusive anxiety, lapses in empathy and changes in place and time of work correlated significantly with the professionals' distress and that all the features except lapses of empathy correlated significantly with their personal growth. The findings highlight the unique contribution that lapses of empathy made to the professionals' distress and that immersion in role made to their growth."
