Résumé : |
"Have you ever wondered if cartoons could be instructive? From my very first teaching practice, I quickly realised that a common difficulty for many students in French-speaking Belgium was the listening comprehension. However, it turns out that it also represents a major difficulty for the teacher who already does everything possible to facilitate this understanding.
To encourage listening, we should open the ear of children from a very young age to different sounds so that they become aware of them and of pre-existing strategies. So, why do not we work on the listening skill through cartoons? This work is based on an educational tool adapted to the pre-primary school and consist of a data bank of Eveil aux langues activities. These can be used and modulated according to your desires or objectives, and are accompanied by their practical guide to help you in your first steps. An experienced teacher took a critical look at it and had qualified it as being a profitable basis for any teacher who will start these activities from the beginning of the school year. I hope that these tools will be a source of inspiration and a precious help for all the teachers who will have to reproduce the activities. Is it really a child's play to awaken kids to languages thanks to cartoons? That is what we will discover soon..." |

Résumé : |
"A richly illustrated and valuable guide to the role of pictures and other visual materials in language teaching. This book brings together a wealth of ideas on how to use pictures in a wide range of language learning situations. It discusses the contribution visuals can make to all the classroom settings in providing real opportunities for students to communicate, whether they are working as a class, in groups or in pairs. There are then over 200 practical suggestions for picture-generated language work. They make use of visual materials which are readily available to teachers anywhere, or easy-to-copy illustrations. The activities can be integrated into all stages of the language teaching process and advice is given on how to adapt the ideas to suit different teaching environments. The book ends with advice on setting up a picture library, including how to find visuals, how to categorise pictures, and storage methods." |
