The Best of Times, the Worst of Times : Social Work and Its Moment / Ray Jones in The british journal of social work, 3, vol. 44 (April 2014)
[article]
Titre : The Best of Times, the Worst of Times : Social Work and Its Moment Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ray Jones, Auteur Année de publication : 2014 Article en page(s) : pp. 485-502 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Cardijn
Travail socialRésumé : "Social work in the UK has had a torrid time, castigated for not protecting children from risk and cornered as the rationer of scarce resources for adults. Over the past sixty years, it has struggled to create a strong and appropriate professional space and its identity and role have remained contested. This paper recounts the debates and dilemmas which have encompassed and engrossed social work, but also recognises that there is now a stronger platform in the UK for social work as a profession. The paper notes what is special about social work and how it might be promoted." Permalink : http://cdocs.helha.be/pmblln/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=19209

PréventionRésumé : "Prevention, comprising services that seek to delay deterioration of existing conditions and circumstances or prevent their occurrence by early access to support, is recognised as having an important role in adult social care. The gateway to social care services has traditionally been via needs-led assessments undertaken with professionals. In England, self-assessment, promoted as a means of accessing services more independently, has come to the fore in recent years."
