Scandinavia appears to be leading the way for parental classes. These were introduced in Sweden in 1980 as an integrated part of the antenatal and child healthcare programme, and are - in theory - offered to all expectant parents. Such classes are free of charge, and there are several broad topics that are covered during these sessions. Yet there is a lack of knowledge regarding antenatal care midwives' perspectives concerning parental classes provided during pregnancy. A study led by Helena Fabian aims to explore midwives' experiences and thoughts as regards those classes training people for the most demanding and rewarding job in the world: being a good parent.
