Objectifs. - L'objectif de cette étude est de traduire et de valider une version française de l'Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), selon une méthode de validation transculturelle. La validité et la fiabilité du questionnaire seront évaluées afin d'en assurer les propriétés psychométriques. Méthode. - La validation transculturelle s'est faite selon la méthodologie de Beaton. L'étude a été menée avec 41 patients souffrant de lombalgie commune. La corrélation entre l'ODI et l'Échelle d'incapacite fonctionnelle pour l'évaluation des lombalgies (EIFEL), le Medical Outcome Survey Short Form-36 (MOS SF-36) et une échelle visuelle analogique (EVA) de la douleur a été évaluée. Résultats. - La validité du questionnaire d'Oswestry a été étudiée par le calcul du coefficient de Cronbach alpha : 0,87 (n = 36). La corrélation significative entre l'ODI et l'EIFEL est de 0,8 (p < 0,001, n = 41) et de 0,71 (p < 0,001, n = 36) pour l'EVA douleur. La corrélation entre l'ODI et certaines sous-échelles ( physical functionning 0,7 (p < 0,001, n = 41), rôle physical 0,49 (p < 0,001, n = 41) et bodily pain 0,73 (p < 0,001, n = 41)) du MOS SF-36 sont également significatives. La reproductibilité de l'ODI a été calculée par le Wilcoxon matched pairs test; il n'y a pas de différence significative pour huit sections sur dix et pour le score final.
