Exclu du prêtEffects of constraint-induced therapy combined with eye patching on functional outcomes and movement kinematics in poststroke neglect / Ching-Yi WU in American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Vol. 67/2 (mars-avril 2013)

Titre : Effects of constraint-induced therapy combined with eye patching on functional outcomes and movement kinematics in poststroke neglect Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ching-Yi WU ; et al. ; Yu-Ting CHEN ; Tien-Ni WANG Année de publication : 2013 Article en page(s) : p. 236-245 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Thérapie par contrainte induite Oeil Perception Résumé : OBJECTIVE. We investigated the effect of constraint-induced therapy (CIT) plus eye patching (EP), CIT alone, and conventional treatment on functional performance, eye movement, and trunk–arm kinematics in stroke patients with neglect syndrome.
METHOD. Twenty-four participants were recruited and randomly allocated to three intervention groups. All participants received intervention 2 hr/day, 5 days/wk, for 3 wk. Outcome measures included the Catherine Bergego Scale, eye movement, and trunk–arm kinematic analysis.
RESULTS. The CIT + EP and CIT groups demonstrated larger improvements in functional performance than the control group. The CIT group showed better performance with left fixation points than the CIT+EP group and shorter reaction time than the control group. The CIT + EP group improved more in preplanned control and leftward trunk shift than the other two groups.
CONCLUSION. CIT + EP and CIT were more effective interventions than conventional treatment of patients with neglect syndrome in daily functional performance.Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=14086

Exclu du prêtValidity and Responsiveness of the Revised Nottingham Sensation Assessment for Outcome Evaluation in Stroke Rehabilitation / Ching-Yi WU in American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Vol. 70/2 (mars-avril 2016)
[article]
Titre : Validity and Responsiveness of the Revised Nottingham Sensation Assessment for Outcome Evaluation in Stroke Rehabilitation Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ching-Yi WU ; I-ching CHUANG ; Hui-ing MA ; et al. Année de publication : 2016 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Ergothérapie Activités vie quotidienne Réadaptation Sensation Résumé : OBJECTIVE. This study establishes the concurrent validity, predictive validity, and responsiveness of the Revised Nottingham Sensation Assessment (rNSA) during rehabilitation for people with stroke.
METHOD. The study recruited 147 patients with stroke. The main assessment used was the rNSA, and outcome measures were the Fugl-Meyer Assessment sensory subscale (FMA–S) and motor subscale (FMA–M) and the Nottingham Extended Activities of Daily Living (NEADL) scale.
RESULTS. Correlation coefficients were good to excellent between the rNSA and the FMA–S. The rNSA proprioception measure was a predictor for the FMA–S. The rNSA stereognosis and tactile-pinprick measures for the proximal upper limb were predictors for the FMA–M and the NEADL scale, respectively. Responsiveness was moderate to large for three subscales of the rNSA (standardized response mean = .51–.83).
CONCLUSION. This study may support the concurrent validity, predictive validity, and responsiveness of the rNSA for people with stroke.Permalink : ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=43896
