Bien-êtreMots-clés : Enfant Israël Soins Bien-être Risque Résumé : "This study is a preliminary examination of life satisfaction among 103 children in one residential treatment care (RTC) setting in Israel. Life satisfaction was examined using the Multidimensional Students Life Satisfaction Scale (MSLSS). Gender differences in life satisfaction and correlations with background and in-care variables were examined. The study revealed that girls were more satisfied with RTC-specific domains than boys and that the residential child-care worker-child relationship plays a major role in the child’s life satisfaction. Findings provided some support for the utility of the MSLSS to describe RTC children and youth’s life satisfaction across a number of important life domains. Ongoing administration of such scales has the potential to monitor RTC children’s life satisfaction and its correlates throughout their stay in care." Aide sociale:Aide sociale -- BénéficiairesRésumé : "This paper discusses the impact on mental health service users of the computerised healthcare programme currently being developed by the NHS that aims to make healthcare information available on a much wider basis than is currently the case. The potential benefits of electronic health records are considerable in terms of enhancing effective and safe healthcare. Yet electronic databases, whatever their purported aim, open up the potential for greater surveillance in a state where dissidence is becoming less easily tolerated and technological advances allow greater inroads into private lives. With a specific focus upon service users considered to pose a risk to other people, and drawing upon qualitative research jointly conducted by the author, this paper focuses upon the use of risk assessments in practice, the accuracy of information about risk, service users’ rights re access to information, their involvement in risk assessment and the objectivity of risk information. The paper concludes with a discussion of possible outcomes for mental health service users and professionals." Permalink : http://cdocs.helha.be/pmblln/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=14306

Evaluation # Personnes âgées # Risque # SoinsMots-clés : Personne âgée Evaluation Risque Soins Résumé : "With the increasing pressure on social and health care resources, professionals have to be more explicit in their decision making regarding the long-term care of older people. This grounded theory study used 19 focus groups and nine semi-structured interviews (99 staff in total) to explore professional perspectives on this decision making. Focus group participants and interviewees comprised care managers, social workers, consultant geriatricians, general medical practitioners, community nurses, home care managers, occupational therapists and hospital discharge support staff. The emerging themes spanned context, clients, families and services. Decisions were often prompted by a crisis, hindering professionals seeking to make a measured assessment. Fear of burglary and assault, and the willingness and availability of family to help were major factors in decisions about living at home. Service availability in terms of public funding for community care, the availability of home care workers and workload pressures on primary care services influenced decision ‘thresholds’ regarding admission to institutional care. Assessment tools designed to assist decision making about the long-term care of older people need to take into account the critical aspects of individual fears and motivation, family support and the availability of publicly funded services as well as functional and medical needs."
