Résumé : |
"Empowerment has been treated as an intervening goal in many areas of social work practices to strengthen clients so they could break through the status of disadvantage and, in turn, increase social functioning and quality of life. Due to the importance of empowerment in social work practice, the purposes of this study were to examine the extent of utilisation of empowerment strategies and to explore its correlates." |

Résumé : |
"Debates surrounding the ostensibly ‘transformative’ potential of personalisation for social work services, and service users, have variously illustrated the risks and opportunities this presents, although the implications for criminal justice social work services have received comparatively limited attention. By extending the concept of ‘service user’ to include not only offenders, but wider stakeholders (victims and communities), this paper considers the practical application of theories of personalisation and co-production by reviewing proposed and extant strategies for maximising stakeholder involvement in criminal justice services." |

Résumé : |
"This paper draws on a small-scale study that explored, through focus group discussions, the experiences of sixty-two front line staff in England who use the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families. Focusing primarily on the views of the social workers and their managers and setting these in the context of other studies and reports, the barriers to ‘seeing’ the child as part of the assessment are explored." |

Résumé : |
"The study examined the relations between various characteristics of Israeli localities and three indicators of children's welfare: rates of reports on child maltreatment to child protection officers (CPO), rates of children registered at the social services, and rates of minor offenders on probation. A set of characteristics of 163 localities—including socio-economic status, religion, nationality, geography, demography and social services availability—was used to explore possible links with these indicators." |

Résumé : |
"The UK has long experienced a shortage of social workers and has recruited internationally to meet demand. There have been few specific data quantifying the scale of social work mobility to the UK through which such experiences can be set in context. The analysis reported in this article uses data from October 2008, relating to registered social workers working in England. As part of a wider study of migrant social care workers in England, the article reports analysis of data records of over 7,000 non-UK social workers registered to work in England and compares their characteristics to UK-qualified social workers." |
